This is the overview page of The Outnumbered Series.

Click any of the links below to visit a specific game. They are sorted based on their unique number, not any other metric (such as simplicity).

  • Sixpack: Use your 6 cards as best you can to claim the biggest piles, which you do by playing a 1 or a 6 on top at the right time.
  • Nine Lives: You’re a cat with 9 lives. But blowing up a round with the wrong number makes you lose a life, and you really don’t want to be the first to die. (Has several expansions and spin-offs.)

All the games are unique: new rules, new art style, new material, new ideas.

Their one thing in common, though, is the focus on one specific number. Everything happens or doesn’t happen when you reach that number in some way, and there are barely other rules. This makes the games simple and intuitive, and often without any text on the cards—just low numbers.

Great! When are new games added? Currently, I have ~10 ideas, of which ~2 new ones will be added each year.

Once upon a time, I noticed that these kind of “number card games” are very useful. They are easy to learn for all ages, as they only require cards with numbers, no text or complicated rules. They are quick to play. And at the same time, they offer a lot of depth, because the number can always be dealt or used differently.

That’s when I decided to take inspiration from that and make such a game. This became Sixpack, the first entry to The Outnumbered Series. By this point, however, I had written down more than 10 ideas for such games! Nine Lives quickly followed and now it’s an ongoing series of games.

The fact that I’m officially an Engineer of Mathematics, though I’ll never use that diploma for anything, also made it easy to pursue these ideas.

Because all games are completely unique in their gameplay, there are no shared images or fonts. For detailed credits, you’ll have to check out the page for a specific game.

Some images were generated using AI. I generally use open source and free fonts, though I sometimes make one myself. Everything else—code, assets, ideas, rules, this website—is all mine.
